Applying for a house

You can apply for a house by calling at our office during normal working hours between 09.30 and 4pm. Alternatively we can send an application form to you however it may be better for our staff to offer advice and assistance, whilst discussing areas and house types which may be available.

We require two forms of identification to be submitted together with your completed application. These forms of identification should include your current address and national insurance number.

Rent payment

The Legal Services agency have produced a booklet entitled Preventing Eviction for Rent Arrears and we are determined that eviction will only take place as alast resort when all other efforts to address rent arrears have failed.

The leaflet can be downloaded below. The link requires Adobe Acrobat PDF viewer, which may be downloaded free of charge.

Prevent Eviction

Problems With Anti-Socials?

If you suffer from the anti-social behaviour of other residents then do not suffer in silence – report your complaint to the Housing Officer. This can be done anonymously and information given shall be treated in confidence.

However, there shall come a time when we shall have to investigate the complaint and eventually speak to the offender. We shall do this in consultation with you to ensure that your wishes are taken into consideration.

If local residents support each other through coming forward and providing statements, then we shall seek to evict these offenders if they refuse to change their behaviour.

We also have access to GHA’s Neighbour Relations Team. These are experienced officers who can deal with serious anti-social cases and offer a professional witness service, out of hours contact and greater support to those suffering from serious anti-social cases. A referral must be made by the local Housing Office and cases must be serious.

Remember that you can also contact the Police (T: 532 4300). if the activity of the
offender is also a criminal offence – this includes vandalism and excessive noise. Remember that you can always contact the Police anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.

If you do know someone is dealing drugs then make sure you contact the National Drugs Helpline 0800 77 66 11 and continue to report the activity as this will assist the Police in obtaining a warrant to search the premises. Tenants found guilty of dealing drugs shall be pursued for eviction
